CATL subsidiary Contemporary Amperex Intelligent Technology (Shanghai) Limited (CAIT) has signed a strategic partnership with Turkish electric vehicle maker Togg to jointly develop a next-generation chassis platform for Togg’s upcoming B-segment electric vehicle family.

The agreement, announced on May 7, marks the first overseas passenger vehicle project for CAIT’s Bedrock Chassis platform and highlights CATL’s expanding global ambitions in intelligent electric vehicle architecture.

The partnership was formalized by Togg CEO Gürcan Karakaş, CATL Chief Customer Officer Libin Tan, and CAIT CEO Hanbing Yang, with CATL Chairman Robin Zeng and Togg Chairman Fuat Tosyalı attending as witnesses.

Under the collaboration, CAIT will provide its Bedrock Chassis technology and engineering expertise while co-developing the platform for three models in Togg’s new B-segment lineup. The vehicles are being designed for both Turkish and European markets, with the first model expected to enter mass production in 2027.

At the center of the partnership is CATL’s “battery-centric” Bedrock Chassis architecture, which integrates key vehicle systems — including the battery pack, electric drive system, thermal management, and chassis controls — into a unified platform. The design is intended to improve energy efficiency, vehicle control, and development flexibility while reducing production complexity.

Robin Zeng described the deal as a milestone in the international rollout of the Bedrock Chassis following its commercial launch in China in 2024. He said the project would help strengthen CATL’s global partnerships and support the transition toward low-carbon mobility in emerging electric vehicle markets.

Togg Chairman Fuat Tosyalı emphasized that the collaboration goes beyond a traditional supplier relationship, positioning Togg as an active participant in the platform’s development. He noted that the partnership would allow the Turkish automaker to tailor products more closely to local customer expectations while contributing to the country’s EV ecosystem.

The project will also apply CATL’s “1+1+1” localization model, which combines a shared chassis platform, integrated supply chain strategy, and localized vehicle development. The approach aims to help emerging automotive markets develop competitive electric vehicle industries while adapting products to regional consumer preferences.

CAIT said it is continuing to expand Bedrock Chassis partnerships across Europe and Southeast Asia as part of CATL’s broader push to accelerate global electrification and intelligent mobility solutions.
