Greaves Electric Mobility Limited (GEM), the electric mobility arm of Greaves Cotton Limited, has announced its international expansion into Nepal with the launch of its flagship electric scooter, Ampere Nexus. The expansion is being undertaken in partnership with STC Auto Solution Private Limited.

With this move, Greaves Electric Mobility aims to tap into Nepal’s evolving electric two-wheeler market, characterized by rugged terrain, high-altitude routes and increasing EV adoption.

Built for Challenging Terrains

The Ampere Nexus, recognized by the Asia Book of Records for conquering the 70 hairpin bends of Kolli Hills in South India, is engineered to perform in demanding conditions. The scooter has also successfully scaled Shipki La Pass at an altitude of 13,200 feet, underscoring its capability to handle steep gradients and extreme climates.

Designed with a focus on durability, performance and rider comfort, the Nexus features strong torque delivery, a stable ride setup and an LFP (Lithium Iron Phosphate) battery. These attributes enable improved uphill performance, smooth acceleration in stop-start traffic and enhanced stability across uneven roads — factors crucial for Nepal’s mountainous geography.

He emphasized that customers in such markets demand stronger build quality, safer battery management systems and reliable range performance.

He added that the Ampere Nexus has been engineered specifically to address these requirements, aligning with Nepal’s growing push toward clean and sustainable mobility.

Advanced Connectivity Features

The Ampere Nexus is equipped with a 7-inch TFT touchscreen integrated with Nex.io, enabling full-screen map mirroring and turn-by-turn navigation. The scooter also supports call connectivity, real-time vehicle monitoring and music control for seamless riding connectivity.

Additionally, the Ampere Connect Companion app offers features such as smart pairing, ride tracking and battery health monitoring, enhancing the overall EV ownership experience.

Strengthening EV Presence Beyond India

Greaves Electric Mobility operates three manufacturing plants in Hyderabad, Noida and Ranipet and maintains over 400 dealer touchpoints across India. With its Nepal entry, the company is extending its footprint beyond domestic markets as part of its long-term international growth strategy.
