Hyundai Motor Company and TVS Motor Company have announced plans to explore a strategic partnership aimed at redefining last-mile mobility solutions in India, one of the world’s fastest-growing mobility markets. The collaboration focuses on developing innovative, sustainable micro-mobility solutions tailored to urban and semi-urban needs.
The two companies showcased advanced concept electric three-wheelers and micro four-wheelers at the Bharat Mobility Global Expo 2025, highlighting their shared vision for clean, inclusive, and efficient transportation. While binding agreements are yet to be finalised, the proposed partnership will see Hyundai Motor contribute its global expertise in design, engineering, and technology, while TVS Motor Company will explore manufacturing, marketing, and co-development of the vehicles.
The unveiled concepts are designed to address India’s evolving road and urban infrastructure challenges. Among them is an electric three-wheeler concept that reimagines the traditional motor rickshaw into a versatile, eco-friendly solution capable of serving as a people mover, logistics carrier, or emergency response vehicle. The concept also emphasizes accessibility, featuring a foldable seat for wheelchair users, compact dimensions for narrow streets, and an adjustable body height to navigate waterlogged roads during monsoons.
Sharad Mishra, President – Group Strategy, TVS Motor Company, said the collaboration reflects TVS’s commitment to innovation and sustainability. He noted that combining Hyundai’s global capabilities with TVS’s deep understanding of Indian mobility needs could lead to next-generation solutions that set new benchmarks in design, technology, and quality.
Echoing this sentiment, SangYup Lee, Executive Vice President and Head of Hyundai and Genesis Global Design, stated that Hyundai’s customer-centric approach has driven it to design micro-mobility solutions specifically for India. He added that the partnership with TVS aims to locally produce three-wheelers for the Indian market while also exploring global opportunities for micro four-wheelers.
The proposed partnership and concept vehicles are currently on display at the TVS and Hyundai pavilions at Bharat Mandappam, New Delhi, offering visitors a glimpse into the future of sustainable last-mile mobility in India.
