In a landmark move toward shaping the future of global automotive markets, Hyundai Motor Company and General Motors (GM) have unveiled plans to co-develop their first five vehicles, marking a significant milestone in their strategic collaboration. The partnership will focus on producing vehicles for Central and South America, as well as an electric commercial van for the North American market, with production set to begin in 2028.

The lineup will include four versatile vehicles tailored for the Central and South American markets, such as a compact SUV, a car, a mid-size pick-up, and a smaller pick-up truck. These vehicles will offer flexibility, featuring both internal combustion and hybrid propulsion options. Hyundai and GM expect to scale production to more than 800,000 vehicles per year once the new models are fully launched.

Both companies will share common platforms but will customize the interior and exterior designs to align with each brand’s identity, ensuring distinctiveness in the marketplace.
