Kia Canada is electrifying the SUV landscape with the launch of the refreshed 2026 Sportage, now available in Hybrid (HEV) and Plug-in Hybrid (PHEV) powertrains. Representing the most significant update to the model since its fifth-generation debut three years ago, the 2026 Sportage combines cutting-edge technology, safety, and bold design with expanded trim options to meet a diverse range of Canadian driving needs.

Manufactured in South Korea, the new Sportage lineup includes three distinct powertrain variants—ICE, HEV, and PHEV—underscoring Kia’s commitment to offering eco-conscious mobility without compromising on performance or convenience.

Electrified Lineup with Expanded Trims

The HEV variant will be offered in EX, the newly introduced EX Premium, and SX trims, while the PHEV line will include the all-new EX, EX Premium, and SX. The HEV models are expected to arrive in Canadian dealerships by June 2025, with PHEV models landing in Q3 2025.

Striking Design and Advanced Cabin Tech

Infused with Kia’s “Opposites United” design philosophy, the 2026 Sportage showcases enhanced front and rear bumpers, stacked LED headlights, and newly styled alloy wheels ranging from 17 to 19 inches. Inside, the cabin is reimagined for comfort and connectivity with standout features like:

  • A 12.3-inch Connected Car Navigation Cockpit (ccNC) display
  • Optional 10-inch head-up display (HUD)
  • Digital Key 2.0 support and wireless Android Auto & Apple CarPlay
  • 360-degree Surround-View Monitor with 3D view
  • Harman Kardon premium audio system and wireless charging

A new Shift-By-Wire shifter, heated rear seats, and smart key remote start enhance the interior’s modern and premium appeal.

Performance and Power

Both hybrid models use a 1.6L turbocharged GDI engine paired with electric motors and AWD capabilities:

  • Sportage HEV: 47.7kW motor, 6.7L/100km combined fuel economy, and 2,000 lbs towing capacity
  • Sportage PHEV: 72kW motor, same towing capacity, with increased EV capabilities

Safety as Standard

The 2026 Sportage comes equipped with a suite of Advanced Driver Assistance Systems (ADAS), including:

  • Standard Forward Collision Avoidance Assist 1.5 with pedestrian and cyclist detection
  • Available Forward Collision Avoidance Assist 2 with oncoming detection and Highway Driving Assist 2
  • Parking Distance Warning (Front/Side/Rear) and Hands-on Detection (HOD) for steering safety
