BMW is set to enhance its model range with significant drivetrain upgrades, new engine variants, and additional standard and optional features, making its vehicles even more attractive and versatile. Key highlights include increased electric range for the BMW i5, new variants for the BMW 2 Series Gran Coupé, and improved charging rates for plug-in hybrid models.
BMW i5: Enhanced Efficiency and Greater Range
Starting March 2025, the all-electric BMW i5 Sedan and i5 Touring will feature technical improvements designed to reduce energy consumption, increasing the driving range by up to 47 kilometers. The enhancements include the introduction of silicon carbide semiconductor components in the power electronics and the use of low-rolling-resistance tires on aerodynamic alloy wheels.
Additionally, the BMW i5 M60 xDrive now comes standard with the M Sport Package Pro, while all BMW 5 Series models benefit from interior upgrades such as ambient lighting with the BMW Interaction Bar, lumbar support for front seats, and a Harman Kardon HiFi loudspeaker system.
New BMW 2 Series Gran Coupé Variants
BMW will expand its 2 Series Gran Coupé lineup in April 2025 with two new variants. The BMW 216 Gran Coupé will serve as the entry-level model, powered by a 1.5-liter three-cylinder petrol engine producing 122 hp and 230 Nm of torque. The BMW 223 xDrive Gran Coupé, featuring a four-cylinder petrol engine with 48-volt mild-hybrid technology, delivers 218 hp and achieves 0-100 km/h in just 6.4 seconds.
BMW X3 40d xDrive: Powerful Diesel Variant
In May 2025, the BMW X3 model range will be expanded with the introduction of the BMW X3 40d xDrive. This premium executive Sports Activity Vehicle (SAV) is powered by a 3.0-liter six-cylinder in-line diesel engine with 48-volt mild-hybrid technology, producing 303 hp and 670 Nm of torque. The model accelerates from 0-100 km/h in 5.4 seconds and has a top speed of 245 km/h.
Improved Charging Rates for Plug-In Hybrids
From March 2025, BMW plug-in hybrid models, including the BMW X1, 2 Series Active Tourer, 7 Series, and BMW XM, will benefit from increased AC charging rates. The maximum charging capacity will rise from 7.4 kW to 11 kW, significantly reducing charging times.
BMW Digital Key Plus: Expanded Access and Functionality
The BMW Digital Key Plus, which allows drivers to access their vehicles via smartphone, will become standard in the BMW iX. The updated system enables up to 18 digital keys with configurable access permissions, including speed and acceleration limits, making it a valuable feature for families and new drivers.
Tyre Repair Kit Plus for Greater Convenience
From March 2025, selected BMW models will include the Tyre Repair Kit Plus as standard equipment. This system allows drivers to temporarily fix a punctured tire, enabling them to travel up to 200 km at a top speed of 80 km/h before requiring professional assistance.
Additional Enhancements Across the BMW Range
Several other BMW models will also receive upgrades in 2025:
- Adaptive LED Headlights will be standard on the BMW X5 and X6.
- The BMW X7 will now feature Parking Assistant Professional as standard.
