General Motors (GM) has reached a significant milestone in the electric vehicle (EV) market, surpassing 300,000 EVs sold in the United States since 2016. Across North America, GM’s cumulative EV sales have now exceeded 370,000, positioning the automaker as the second-largest EV seller in the U.S. for the third quarter of 2024.
In Q3 2024 alone, GM delivered more than 32,000 all-electric vehicles in the U.S., marking a 46% increase quarter-over-quarter and a 60% rise compared to last year. This surge reflects GM’s strategic commitment to offering a diverse EV lineup, from luxury models like the Cadillac LYRIQ to high-performance options such as the GMC HUMMER EV, and accessible choices like the Chevy Equinox EV.
Beyond producing EVs, GM is investing in infrastructure to make the transition easier for consumers, including expanding access to public charging stations and introducing at-home charging solutions with backup power capabilities. GM is also enhancing its lineup of gasoline and diesel vehicles, catering to a wide range of customer preferences while maintaining a steady focus on EV innovation.
As GM looks toward future releases like the Cadillac OPTIQ and ESCALADE IQ, the company remains confident in its goal of making electric driving accessible to all. According to GM, its decades of research and engineering have laid the groundwork for these milestones, with more to come as the company accelerates toward an all-electric future.
