Competing against 52 other products from European, American, and Asian manufacturers, the WinterContact TS 870 emerged as the clear winner, demonstrating superior performance across all test categories.
Tested on a Volkswagen Golf with tire size 205/55 R 16, the WinterContact TS 870 was praised for its balanced performance in all weather conditions, short braking distances, and high mileage. AUTO BILD’s expert team declared the tire “test winner” for its all-round excellence.
The WinterContact TS 870, specifically designed for mini to mid-size cars and sporty compacts, offers a wide range of sizes, from 14 to 18-inch diameters, ensuring it meets the needs of various drivers. It supports speed ratings of up to 240 km/h and includes versions with rim protection ribs and XL markings for increased load capacity.
Strong Showing by Continental’s Sub-Brands
In addition to Continental’s victory, the company’s other brands performed admirably. Semperit’s Speed-Grip 5 received an “exemplary” rating with a score of 1.4, lauded as an affordable tire with strong performance in all weather conditions and notable durability. Barum’s Polaris 5, while rated “satisfactory,” also made a respectable showing in the competitive test.
