Indian electric vehicle manufacturer Ultraviolette has raised US$85 million in a new funding round led by deep-tech fund Yali Capital and TDK Ventures, with participation from Lip-Bu Tan, Chairman of Walden International and an advisor to Ultraviolette, along with the company’s existing long-term investors.
The funding will support Ultraviolette’s efforts to scale manufacturing, develop its next-generation electric vehicle platforms and expand into international markets.
The company plans to use the capital to increase production of its existing F77 electric motorcycle and X-47, as well as upcoming models Tesseract and Shockwave, to meet growing demand in India and overseas markets.
Ultraviolette is also targeting entry into the United States in 2027, alongside expansion across key markets in Latin America and Southeast Asia.
The company said the investment will support the development of its next generation of global EV platforms, building on its vertically integrated capabilities in battery technology, power electronics, vehicle architecture and intelligent software.
Ultraviolette has developed in-house battery architectures ranging from 48V to 400V, allowing it to develop electric mobility platforms for different vehicle segments and performance requirements. The company said this capability enables it to optimize platforms for factors including performance, range, thermal management and vehicle packaging.
Ganapathy Subramaniam, Founding Managing Partner at Yali Capital, said the fund sees electric two-wheelers as an important component of India’s transition toward cleaner mobility and highlighted Ultraviolette’s in-house engineering capabilities across batteries, powertrains, software and radar-based safety technology.
Ravi Jain, Investment Director at TDK Ventures, said differentiated technology and products could help accelerate the adoption of electric two-wheelers and support Ultraviolette’s expansion into global markets.
Ultraviolette founders Narayan Subramaniam and Niraj Rajmohan said the funding will enable the company to scale manufacturing, accelerate future product development and strengthen its international presence.
The company currently has a portfolio spanning electric motorcycles and scooters, with the F77 and X-47 among its existing products and the Tesseract and Shockwave planned as upcoming models.
