Shaping The EV Revolution: MG Motor India Teams Up With Epsilon Group For Infrastructure Boost

MG Motor India has partnered with the Epsilon Group to enhance the electric vehicle (EV) infrastructure across India. According to a statement by the company, this partnership entails signing memorandums of understanding with two Epsilon Group subsidiaries – Power EV for advanced charging solutions and LICO for battery recycling and repurposing expertise.

Power EV will deliver tailored charging technologies for MG’s EVs, featuring a variety of AC and DC chargers ranging from 22kW to 120kW speeds, supported by Power Panel Management Software. This initiative aligns with MG Motor India’s ‘MG Charge’ program, which aims to establish 1,000 charging points across residential communities within 1,000 days.

Regarding battery recycling, LICO will collaborate with MG Motor India to manage end-of-life battery recycling and recover essential materials like lithium, cobalt, manganese, and nickel, thus promoting the circular economy. Additionally, the two companies will jointly focus on research and development to improve recycling processes’ efficiency and explore battery second-life applications.

Gaurav Gupta, Chief Growth Officer at MG Motor India, emphasized the significance of the partnership, stating that it underscores MG Motor India’s commitment to sustainability and the development of a robust EV ecosystem in India. He highlighted the collaboration’s aim to establish efficient charging infrastructure and promote circular economy principles through battery life cycle solutions.

Vikram Handa, Managing Director of Epsilon Group, noted the partnership as a crucial step toward advancing green mobility energy adoption and circular economy principles.

Commenting on the collaboration, Benny Parihar, CEO of Power EV, expressed confidence that it would revolutionize the EV charging landscape, making electric mobility a sustainable option for all. Gaurav Dolwani, CEO of LICO Materials Pvt. Ltd., echoed this sentiment, aiming to set new standards for circular economy principles in the automotive sector through comprehensive battery recycling and repurposing solutions.

This partnership reaffirms MG Motor India’s dedication to fostering the EV ecosystem’s growth in India, as evidenced by its installation of over 15,000 charging points and its focus on enhancing customer experiences through strategic industry collaborations.
