Volvo Car India has introduced the booking process for the single-variant XC40 Recharge electric SUV. This new variant, featuring a single motor instead of the dual-motor configuration found in other models, was recently launched in India at a starting price of ₹54.95 lakh (ex-showroom). Bookings are now open through Volvo’s online platform, requiring a token amount of ₹1 lakh. Production of the new variant will take place alongside the standard version of the EV at Volvo’s Hosakote facility in Bengaluru, Karnataka.
The single-variant XC40 Recharge electric SUV comes at a more affordable price point, approximately ₹3 lakh lower than the standard model, which is priced at ₹57.90 lakh (ex-showroom). The key difference between the two versions lies in the electric motor powering the SUV. Volvo states that the XC40 Recharge Single delivers 238 hp of power and 420 Nm of peak torque, enabling it to accelerate from 0 to 100 kmph in just 7.3 seconds. The top speed of the electric SUV is electronically limited to 180 kmph.
In comparison to the dual-motor variant, the single-variant XC40 Recharge electric SUV offers lower power output. The top variant of the electric SUV can generate 402 bhp of power and 660 Nm of peak torque, with a driving range of up to 418 kms on a single charge, approximately 170 kms more than the single motor variant. Volvo claims that the XC40 Recharge Single can provide up to 592 kms of range based on testing conducted by ICAT.
Equipped with a 69 kWh battery pack, the XC40 Recharge Single features a smaller unit compared to the 78 kWh unit in the dual-motor variant. Volvo offers an eight-year or 1.60 lakh km warranty for the battery, along with a 11 Kw wall box charger for home charging solution included with the purchase.
