Assam Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma inaugurated 200 air-conditioned electric buses on Monday, enhancing public transportation in Guwahati and its neighboring areas.

The state, having already dedicated 100 CNG buses earlier, underscores its commitment to sustainable transport. Sarma expressed the government’s dedication to a greener environment, emphasizing the urgency of addressing climate change.

He encouraged private initiatives in setting up charging stations, pledging government support. Sarma highlighted ongoing efforts to combat environmental pollution, including the installation of 2,000 CCTV cameras in the city.

The launch also featured the introduction of the National Common Mobility Card, positioning Assam as the third state in India to adopt RuPay-powered cards for seamless transport access.
