MG (Morris Garages) has announced a strategic partnership with Shoonya, the Zero Pollution Mobility campaign led by NITI Aayog, in collaboration with key players in India’s electric mobility industry. This partnership aligns with the broader objective of expediting the adoption of electric vehicles (EVs) and contributing to a more sustainable future.
MG Motor India will actively participate in the Shoonya campaign, sharing its significant developments in the electric vehicle sector as part of this collaboration. This initiative underscores MG’s dedication to the EV industry and emphasizes its long-term vision to support its growth through innovative solutions and collaborative relationships with both industry stakeholders and the government, according to a company statement.
MG’s commitment to expanding and nurturing partnerships within the EV ecosystem is exemplified by this alliance with Shoonya, marking a significant stride toward achieving environmentally friendly and pollution-free mobility in India. The Shoonya campaign, a collective effort involving industry partners, aims to achieve 100% electrification in urban commercial passenger and freight sectors in the near future.
The campaign brings together a diverse group of stakeholders, including original equipment manufacturers (OEMs), ride-hailing companies, charging infrastructure providers, e-commerce platforms, financiers, and fleet aggregators. This consumer awareness campaign is supported by approximately 200 corporate partners and strives to drive a rapid shift toward sustainable mobility.
MG has taken the lead in enhancing the EV ecosystem in India by introducing a comprehensive 6-way charging solution to facilitate EV charging. Through its MG Charge initiative, the brand has established a network of over 15,000 charging points, including home chargers, across India to facilitate EV users. The goal is to create a shared charging network on roads, highways, in cities, apartments, condominiums, residential welfare associations (RWAs), and societies to make EV charging convenient for owners.
MG’s EV efforts are bolstered by various partners, including Tata Power, Glida, and BPCL. The MG Charge program is a collaborative effort with Electreefi, Exicom, Echargebays, Ionage, Prestige, and other partners, all working together to transform the vision of an efficient and accessible EV ecosystem into a reality.
