Ather Energy has announced its plans to introduce the 450X electric scooter in Nepal, marking its global debut. This move follows the electric two-wheeler startup’s previous indications of expanding into international markets. Ather has partnered with Nepal-based Vaidya Energy to distribute its 450X scooter in Nepal.
The company stated that the 450X electric scooter will soon make its international debut by entering the Nepalese market. Ather will also establish an experience center in Kathmandu in collaboration with a local company, although specific launch dates have not been disclosed.
Ather Energy has achieved significant success with its 450 series of electric scooters, with the 450X being its flagship model. It competes with electric scooters from Ola Electric and TVS Motor Company. Ather claims that its 450 series scooters currently hold a 75% market share in the Indian electric two-wheeler segment. The decision to launch the 450X in Nepal is motivated by the country’s favorable prospects for electric two-wheelers.
Ravneet Phokela, Chief Business Officer of Ather Energy, explained that this expansion into Nepal represents the company’s first step in its international journey, driven by increasing demand from multiple markets. He sees Nepal’s automobile market as emblematic of the growing global awareness of the need for cleaner mobility options.
