In a significant move towards promoting sustainable transportation, Tata Power EV Charging Solutions Limited (TPEVCSL), a subsidiary of Tata Power, has joined forces with the Kolkata Airport Authority to bolster the electric vehicle (EV) charging infrastructure in West Bengal. The formal inauguration of four EV chargers, including DC-CCS2 and single-gun GB/T chargers, took place on Tuesday, September 26, 2023.
The inauguration ceremony was attended by distinguished guests, including Shri C Pattabhi, Airport Director, Kolkata, and Mr. Virendra Goyal, Head of Business Development for EV Charging at Tata Power, along with Mr. Ramkrishna Singh, Head of Business Operations, EV Charging, Tata Power. The event marked a significant milestone in Tata Power’s ongoing commitment to eco-friendly transportation and its leading role in establishing a comprehensive nationwide charging infrastructure.
The collaboration culminated with the signing of a formal agreement between the Airport Authorities of India and Tata Power. These newly installed chargers are compatible with all electric cars available in the country.

The selection of charging station locations underwent meticulous planning, prioritizing convenience and accessibility for EV users commuting to the airport or the nearby vicinity. This thoughtful approach ensures a seamless charging experience within the airport premises, addressing concerns related to EV range anxiety.
Tata Power has made substantial strides in the EV charging sector, with over 50 public and semi-public charging points already installed across Kolkata. This achievement solidifies Tata Power’s position as the largest EV charging point operator in India, commanding nearly 60% market share. Their extensive nationwide network comprises over 58,000 home chargers, 4,800 public and semi-public charging points, and 430 bus charging stations, spanning 420+ cities, with continuous expansion plans.
