Enphase Energy has highlighted the safety, reliability, and performance of its IQ EV Charger 2, which is now available across European markets, as demand for residential electric vehicle (EV) charging infrastructure continues to grow.

The company said the IQ EV Charger 2 has been engineered to deliver consistent charging performance across a wide range of environmental conditions while minimising thermal derating, a common issue in EV chargers where charging output is reduced at higher temperatures to prevent overheating.

Designed for operation in temperatures ranging from –40°C to 55°C and at altitudes of up to 2,500 metres, the charger features a rugged IP55-rated weatherproof and IK10-rated impact-resistant enclosure suitable for both indoor and outdoor installations. It supports single-phase and three-phase electrical systems, offers configurable charging of up to 32 A per phase, and includes automatic phase switching.

Enphase said the charger incorporates multiple built-in safety features, including overvoltage protection, overcurrent detection, an integrated residual direct current detecting device (RDC-DD), relay weld detection, and PEN fault detection to protect the vehicle, home electrical system, and users during charging.

The IQ EV Charger 2 has been certified by TÜV Rheinland and carries CE marking, complying with European EV charging standards, including IEC/EN 61851-1, IEC/EN 61851-21-2, IEC/EN 62196, and IEC/EN 62955. In France, the charger has also received E.V. READY certification.

Beyond hardware safety, the charger integrates with Enphase solar and battery systems or can operate as a standalone EV charger. It supports dynamic load balancing, smart charging using surplus solar energy, and includes a certified Class B MID energy meter with ±1% accuracy for energy monitoring.

According to Enphase, the IQ EV Charger 2 is available in both socketed and tethered configurations across Europe. The tethered version includes a 7.5-metre Type 2 charging cable to provide greater installation flexibility.

Jannik Schall, Chief Product Officer and Co-founder of 1KOMMA5°, said the charger delivers the reliability and performance expected by customers and installers across varying operating conditions.

Sabbas Daniel, Senior Vice President of Sales at Enphase Energy, said the product has been designed with rigorous engineering, independent safety certifications, and multiple layers of protection to provide dependable long-term performance. The company added that every IQ EV Charger 2 activated in supported European markets is backed by a five-year warranty and 24/7 customer support.
