
Kochi Refinery inducts two electric vehicles (EVs) into the Refinery carpool. The Tata Nexon EV was flagged off by Executive Director i/c (KR) Mr. Ajith Kumar K and Executive Director (Operations) Mr. Chacko M Jose. Ms. Sarah Thomas, CGM(HR), and Mr. Suresh John, CGM(RPO) were the first to ride in the vehicles. Mr. George Thomas, GM(PR & Admn) received the key of the vehicle from Mr. Das KK, GM (Process Engg), and Mr. Mathew P Thomas, GM(P&U).
The Electric Vehicles and charging stations at Kochi Refinery were launched as part of the Net-Zero initiatives of BPCL Kochi Refinery.
The BPCL Kochi Refinery embarked on its journey in 1966 with a capacity of 50,000 barrels per day. Formerly known as Cochin Refineries Limited, the refinery was originally established as a joint venture in collaboration with Phillips Petroleum Corporation, USA. It was later renamed Kochi Refineries Limited, and today, it is a frontline entity as a unit of the Fortune 500 Oil and Gas Maharatna Bharat Petroleum Corporation Limited with a capacity of 3,10,000 barrels per day.
