Convergence Energy Solutions Ltd (CESL), State-owned has established a solar-powered charging station in Ladakh for electric vehicles.
It said that CESL, a wholly-owned subsidiary of Energy Efficiency Services Ltd, under the Ministry of Power, has created a first-of-its-kind solar-powered charging station for electric vehicles in the Ladakh area.
Lieutenant Governor of Ladakh, R K Mathur inaugurated the integrated carport in Leh.
He also gave over customised electric vehicles, which were made by Hyundai Motor Company and made by CES, to be included in the official Leh fleet.
The EV carport is composed of 100 kW solar panels and a lithium-ion battery storage unit that can store 860 kW/hour. You can also charge electric buses from the carport.
CESL delivered 10 Hyundai Kona cars that were specially customized by CESL. The vehicles can operate at minus 15°C.
Mahua Acharya, the CEO & MD of CESL stated, “We are positive that this project will be a genesis to other upcoming green energy solutions in the hilly territory.”
We plan to save Ladakh’s environment by implementing renewable energy efficiency and electric mobility projects with the constant support of the government.
