Chandigarh Administrator, Banwarilal Purohit flags off 40 electric buses purchased by the Chandigarh Transport Undertaking. These are the second batch of electric buses. The agreement was signed with Volvo Eicher in February.
Under the Ministry of Heavy Industries and Public Enterprises, the Department of Heavy Industries ordered 80 electric buses under the second phase of the FAME II scheme.
Out of these 40 electric buses, the first lot of 19 electric buses will come by July 15, and the second lot of 20 electric buses will come by August 15.
The first batch of 40 electric buses has been launched and the agreement was signed with Ashok Leyland.
