TVS Motor is placing a lot of faith in the electric vehicle segment. They have lined up a variety of products for both the two-wheeler and three-wheeler markets across multiple EV platforms.
Sudarshan Venu, the company’s MD, stated that TVS will launch products for Indian and global markets to grasp all the opportunities that EVs present.
The company is currently developing a variety of platforms for its EV launches. Recently, the company launched the upgraded iQube electric scooter. It has received more than 15,000 orders.
Venu stated that electric vehicles will be launched in the range of 5-25 kilowatt-hours. These vehicles will be available in both two- and three-wheeler versions. He said that the company is also working with BMW Motorrad to develop an electric two-wheeler platform in the sub-15 kilowatt-hour range.
TVS subsidiary Norton is also developing an electric superbike to be a luxury product. This is Norton’s plan to develop electric motorcycles in Britain after receiving significant investment from the UK government’s Advanced Propulsion Centre program.
“Norton as a brand has tremendous value and legacy and we will reinvent it in a modern way. Production has started for new Norton bikes and we are developing an electric superbike which will be our basis for a play in the luxury EV segment in developed markets,” Venu added.Â
