Chetak Technology Ltd., Bajaj Auto’s wholly-owned subsidiary inaugurates its dedicated and integrated EV manufacturing plant at Akurdi. Chetak Technology Ltd with its vendor partners could be spending almost Rs. 750 crore on the new EV manufacturing facility.

The 5-lakh-per-year capacity of a two-wheeler manufacturing unit is located on 6.5 acres of land. It aims to serve every home and export market, according to the corporate.

Bajaj introduced its iconic Chetak scooter again in an electric avatar in October 2019. According to the company, it has purchased more than 14,000 Chetak electric scooters since its inception and received more than 16,000 bookings.

“Chetak is the unique ‘Make in India’ celebrity, which gained hearts worldwide. True to these designed-and-built-in-India roots, the electrical avatar of Chetak is born out of our robust R&D, deep understanding of merchandise and shoppers, and many years of producing experience,” stated Rajiv Bajaj, Chairman – Chetak Expertise Ltd.

He said that the corporate had saved its commitment to commissioning this centre of excellence for Chetak before June. “This targeted, built-in and agile facility is meant to energy the Chetak’s journey again to the long run,” Bajaj stated.
