Triton Electric Vehicle Partners With Bharat Electronics Limited To Develop EVs

A Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) has been signed between US-based Triton Electric Vehicleand Bharat Electronics Limited (BEL) for developing electric vehicles and energy storage systems.

As per the MoU, BEL will be the exclusive manufacturing partner to Triton in India for identified products, while Triton will provide the know-how and technical documentation required for manufacturing of these products. For requirements of Energy Storage System ( ESS) in India, BEL will address the requirements as a prime contractor and Triton will provide the support as technology partner as per Make in India requirements.

“We are excited to see the market response from India. Joining hands with BEL will definitely strengthen our commitment towards technology and clean energy driven EV and ESS market. The whole world respects India’s technical capabilities in various sectors, we wish to leverage this through building great products around ESS and EVs,” said Himanshu B Patel, Managing Director, Triton EV.

With this partnership, Triton aims to produce an innovative product “which will transform the Indian EV and ESS segment”.

Recently, Triton announced the launch of the electric sedan N4 for the Indian market. The model will be available in four variants – N4, N4-S, N4-R and the high-performance limited edition N4-GT of which only 100 units will be produced. N4 is powered by a 75 KWh / battery giving it a range of up to 325 miles / 523km & 100 kwh battery 430 Miles/ kw696 Km; with upgrades available for higher variants. The company said development of the car is on track and the vehicle is likely to be showcased in next one month.

Triton EV is a company based in Cherry Hill, New Jersey,  which is involved in the business of energy storage systems ranging from transportable small battery packs to a 10 MWh battery storage unit for applications like energy generation, load management, EV charging stations. Triton is also involved in manufacturing electric vehicles using battery technologies developed by them.

BEL is engaged in the design development, manufacture and supply of different types of electronic systems, control units, battery packs, battery management systems, chargers amongst others for use by defence services and civilian sector;

The two companies will together work on manufacturing sub-systems and battery assembly for energy storage systems and electric vehicles for requirements of customers in the USA, India and other countries.
