ACCIONA Energía and Castellana Properties have officially opened a major public electric vehicle (EV) charging station at the El Faro shopping centre in Badajoz, Spain. The new facility is among the largest publicly accessible EV charging stations in the country, offering 42 charging bays and 2,000kW of contracted power. The high-capacity installation has been designed to ensure reliable charging services even during periods of peak electricity demand.
The charging station offers a mix of charging options to meet the needs of different EV users. It includes four ultra-fast 240kW chargers serving eight charging bays, enabling compatible vehicles to charge in less than 15 minutes. In addition, there are ten 80kW fast chargers providing 20 charging bays, where most vehicles can be charged within 30 to 60 minutes. For drivers planning longer visits, the site also features seven 22kW chargers serving 14 charging bays, with charging times ranging from two to four hours.
Customers can easily manage their charging sessions using the ACCIONA Recarga mobile application, which provides access to exclusive promotions and additional benefits. The charging station also supports ad hoc charging, allowing users to start a charging session without prior registration. Drivers can activate charging directly from their mobile phones or make payments using bank cards, making the facility convenient and accessible for all EV owners.
The charging infrastructure is equipped with technology supplied by Circutor, a well-known manufacturer of electric vehicle charging equipment recognised for producing reliable and high-quality charging solutions.
The new installation also strengthens the range of services available at the El Faro shopping centre, making it more convenient for visitors while supporting the growing adoption of electric mobility. Castellana Properties, the owner of the shopping centre, said the project reflects its continued commitment to sustainability. The company has been working to reduce its carbon footprint through improved energy efficiency, self-consumption projects, and new initiatives focused on decarbonisation and sustainable transport.
