VinFast-backed ride-hailing platform Green SM has partnered with Korlantas Polri to introduce a nationwide driver safety and professional training program aimed at improving road safety standards across Indonesia.

The initiative, launched at the Indonesia Safety Driving Center (ISDC) in Serpong on May 18, begins with more than 300 driver partners and is expected to expand to around 7,000 participants by the end of 2026.

The training program combines classroom education with practical driving exercises in a controlled environment. Participants receive instruction in defensive driving techniques, emergency response handling, professional driving ethics, and compliance with Indonesian traffic laws.

According to Green SM, the collaboration reflects the company’s broader commitment to building a highly professional driver network while promoting safer and more reliable transportation services for local communities.

Since entering the Indonesian market in December 2024, Green SM has already implemented regular internal training programs focused on road safety, customer service quality, and real-world driving scenarios. Through the partnership with Korlantas Polri, the company plans to further standardize and strengthen these initiatives nationwide.

Green SM also highlighted its environmental impact in Indonesia. As of April 2026, the company’s electric vehicle fleet has traveled more than 109 million kilometers, contributing to a reduction of approximately 20,900 tons of CO2 emissions — equivalent to the annual carbon absorption capacity of over 964,000 trees.

“Our driver partners represent Green SM in every journey they complete,” said Deny Tjia. “Through this program, we aim to strengthen their practical driving skills, road safety awareness, and service professionalism, while continuing to elevate the customer experience across Indonesia.”

He added that safety remains a long-term operational priority for the company, extending across driver training, service quality, and the overall passenger journey.

Agus Suryonugroho, Head of the Traffic Corps of the Indonesian National Police, described the collaboration as an important step toward improving driver professionalism and promoting safer traffic conditions nationwide.

“The driver aspect plays a crucial role in road safety,” he stated. “We hope this initiative can serve as a benchmark for future transportation safety programs.”

Green SM operates under GSM, an electric mobility company founded by Vietnamese entrepreneur Phạm Nhật Vượng. The GSM ecosystem includes electric ride-hailing, bus operations, driver training, and EV rental services powered primarily by VinFast electric vehicles.

Currently, Green SM operates in Vietnam, Laos, Indonesia, and the Philippines as part of its mission to accelerate sustainable urban transportation across Southeast Asia.
