Suzuki Motor Corporation has strengthened its manufacturing footprint in India by commencing commercial production at the second plant of its Kharkhoda facility in Haryana, marking another major step in the company’s global growth strategy.
The newly operational plant, managed by Maruti Suzuki India Limited, has an annual production capacity of 250,000 units and will manufacture the SUV model “Victoris.” With the addition of the second facility, the total production capacity of the Kharkhoda manufacturing site has now doubled to 500,000 units annually.
Suzuki currently operates four manufacturing hubs across India — Gurugram, Manesar, Hansalpur, and Kharkhoda. Following the latest expansion, the automaker’s total annual production capacity in the country has risen to 2.65 million units.
The company also announced plans to begin operations at the fourth plant of its Hansalpur facility within the first half of the current fiscal year. Once operational, the Hansalpur expansion will add another 250,000 units, taking Suzuki’s total annual production capacity in India to 2.9 million units.
India continues to play a pivotal role in Suzuki’s global operations. In fiscal year 2025, Maruti Suzuki produced 2.34 million vehicles in the country. Exports from India surged 35 percent year-on-year to 448,000 units, driven primarily by growing demand in Africa, Japan, and European markets. The company achieved record highs in both production and exports during the period.
Suzuki stated that it aims to further strengthen India’s position as a global export hub while meeting rising domestic demand. As part of its mid-term strategy, the company is targeting an annual production capacity of 4 million units in India.
