Electric mobility platform Bijliride has expanded its student-focused offerings under its flagship Project Udaan initiative with the launch of a new Student Mobility Program, aimed at providing flexible, zero-commitment electric two-wheeler rentals for higher education students across major Indian metropolitan cities.
The initiative is designed to address transportation challenges faced by students while supporting access to education, internships, placement drives, and part-time employment opportunities.
According to the company, the programme comes at a time when a growing number of students are undertaking part-time work to meet living expenses, including rent, tuition fees, and daily commuting costs. Bijliride noted that high vehicle ownership costs, fragmented public transport, and rising travel expenses often limit students’ access to academic and professional opportunities.
As part of the programme, Bijliride has integrated optional micro-gig earning opportunities into its digital platform, enabling students to undertake short-duration delivery assignments to offset their electric vehicle rental expenses. The company said students can choose to complete deliveries for as little as one hour a day while retaining the flexibility to prioritise their academic schedules.
According to Bijliride, the initiative also aims to support quick-commerce and enterprise logistics companies by providing access to a pool of verified riders during periods of peak demand.
Shivam Sisodiya, Founder and Chief Executive Officer of Bijliride, said the programme is intended to ensure that transportation does not become a barrier to education, employment, or personal development. He added that combining affordable EV rentals with flexible earning opportunities reflects changing consumer preferences for access-based mobility while promoting sustainable transportation.
Since the launch of Project Udaan, Bijliride said it has witnessed steady growth in student registrations and enquiries across Hyderabad, Pune, Bengaluru, Mumbai, and Delhi NCR. Students are using the electric two-wheelers for daily campus commuting as well as travelling to internships, examinations, placement drives, and skill development programmes.
The company added that the initiative also supports educational institutions in promoting cleaner campus mobility while encouraging early electric vehicle adoption among students.
