The ADAC 24-hour race at the Nürburgring, Germany’s largest motorsport event (19-22 June 2025), is once again set to attract over 230,000 car and motorsport enthusiasts to the iconic Nordschleife. Volkswagen is ready to captivate fans with a range of thrilling events, including the world premiere of a special GTI model. Additional highlights will feature performance models from Volkswagen R, which will be showcased off-track throughout the race weekend, as well as the highly anticipated 24-hour race itself.
Following their class victory last year, the Max Kruse Racing customer team will return to the track with two fast Golf GTI “Clubsport 24h” cars. As the Golf GTI approaches its 50th anniversary in 2026, Volkswagen is eager to celebrate this milestone with fans, and there’s no better place than the Nürburgring Nordschleife to honor the legendary model. The racetrack and the GTI name are synonymous with driving pleasure, dynamic performance, and sportiness.
To mark this upcoming anniversary, Volkswagen will unveil a sporty special edition of the Golf GTI at this year’s 24-hour race, with a simultaneous reveal for both media and spectators in the Eifel region. In addition to the world premiere, fans can look forward to numerous other Volkswagen highlights, including the performance models from Volkswagen R. The all-wheel-drive Golf R, Golf R Variant, and the Golf R Black Edition, which are the fastest production Volkswagens, will offer a special driving mode designed for the demanding Nürburgring Nordschleife.
Preparations for the event are already in full swing. The Max Kruse Racing team recently completed a winter test in Portimão, Portugal, at the end of February. These sessions provided a great opportunity to test the cars under race conditions and fine-tune their performance. Before the 24-hour race, the team will also compete in the Nürburgring Endurance Series (NLS) to ensure everything is perfectly prepared for the ultimate challenge in the ‘Green Hell.’ The NLS race season kicks off next weekend with the 70th edition of the ADAC Westfalenfahrt, a four-hour race.
