Rajasthan Govt Allocates ₹200 Crore for EV Subsidies to Boost Clean Mobility

In a significant move to promote electric mobility, the Rajasthan government has announced a ₹200 crore subsidy program aimed at accelerating the adoption of electric vehicles (EVs) across the state. The initiative is part of a broader strategy to curb carbon emissions, reduce vehicular pollution, and develop a sustainable transportation ecosystem.

Key Objectives of the EV Subsidy Program
The subsidy initiative is designed to:

Encourage EV adoption by making vehicles more affordable.
Reduce the state’s carbon footprint by cutting emissions from fossil-fuel-powered vehicles.
Expand EV infrastructure, including charging stations.
Attract investments and boost the local EV manufacturing sector.

Financial Incentives for EV Buyers
Under the scheme, financial incentives will be provided for different categories of electric vehicles:

Two-Wheelers: ₹4,000 to ₹10,000 per unit (1,00,000 units).
E-Rickshaws & E-Carts: ₹4,000 to ₹20,000 per unit (50,000 units).
Four-Wheelers: ₹3,000 to ₹50,000 per unit (7,000 units).
Electric Buses: ₹1,00,000 to ₹5,00,000 per unit (500 units).
Retrofitted Vehicles: Special subsidies for converted electric vehicles (7,000 units).
Additionally, buyers of EVs with advanced battery technology will be eligible for State Goods and Services Tax (SGST) reimbursement, further lowering purchase costs.

Direct Bank Transfers for Transparency
To ensure a streamlined process, subsidies will be credited directly into buyers’ bank accounts upon verification.

Eligibility Criteria
To qualify for the subsidy, buyers must meet the following conditions:

The EV must be purchased on or after September 1, 2022.
It must be registered and purchased from a dealer within Rajasthan.
Only EVs with government-approved advanced battery technology are eligible.

Application Process
EV buyers can apply for subsidies through the Rajasthan Transport Department’s portal by:

Entering their vehicle registration and chassis numbers.
Completing an OTP verification.
Uploading necessary documents, including bank details.
Receiving the subsidy via direct bank transfer upon verification.
Impact of the EV Subsidy
The Rajasthan government expects this initiative to have far-reaching benefits, including:

Higher EV adoption rates due to reduced purchase costs.
Improved air quality by cutting emissions from conventional fuel vehicles.
