Sales Halt for Three Current Models
Based on the investigation’s findings, Toyota has temporarily halted sales and shipments of three models currently in production within Japan: the Corolla Fielder, Corolla Axio, and Yaris Cross. This measure takes effect on June 3rd, 2024. Toyota is working diligently with MLIT to rectify the situation as swiftly as possible.
Chairman Toyoda Offers Apologies
In a statement, Toyota Chairman Akio Toyoda expressed sincere apologies to customers, car enthusiasts, and stakeholders. He acknowledged the severity of the issue, following similar incidents at Hino, Daihatsu, and Toyota Industries Corporation.
