Eicher Trucks and Buses, a division of VE Commercial Vehicles (VECV) Limited, has handed over six Eicher Skyline PRO E 9M Staff AC Electric Buses to the Indian Army as part of the army’s eco-friendly transportation initiative.
The official handover ceremony occurred at the Manekshaw Centre in Dhaulakuan, New Delhi, with Lieutenant General MV Suchindra Kumar, Vice Chief of the Indian Army, and other senior officers present.
Vinod Aggarwal, Managing Director and CEO of VECV expressed honor in supporting the Indian Army’s vision for sustainable and green mobility, showcasing Eicher’s commitment to eco-friendly transportation.
In another development, Eicher Trucks and Buses announced its entry into the Small Commercial Vehicle (SCV) segment by unveiling its EV-focused Eicher Truck at Bharat Mobility Global Expo 2024.
Designed for city and near-city distribution, the Pro Business Pro Planet range spans 2T to 3.5T GVW, aiming to revolutionize last-mile logistics. The SCV is set for customer trials in April 2024, with commercial rollout expected in Q1 2025.
Emphasizing sustainability, Eicher will introduce the electric variant first, gradually adding clean diesel and CNG options. The product is designed and developed in India, aligning with the Make in India initiative, and will be manufactured in Bhopal.
