EKA Mobility Inks Deal To Deliver 1,000 Electric Intercity Buses To GreenCell Mobility

Electric vehicle manufacturer EKA Mobility announced its commitment to provide 1,000 electric buses for intercity transportation to GreenCell Mobility. The two entities have formalized this arrangement through a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU). EKA Mobility will oversee the supply, sales, and service aspects of the 12-meter and 13.5-meter intercity electric buses, and will also be responsible for delivering quality certification reports. Sudhir Mehta, the Founder and Chairman of EKA Mobility, expressed the strategic importance of their collaboration with GreenCell Mobility, emphasizing the role it plays in advancing a cleaner and more sustainable future through electric mass transportation.

Guwahati Embraces Sustainability with a Fleet of 100 Tata Motors Electric Buses

Tata Motors, India’s foremost commercial vehicle manufacturer, has delivered 100 electric buses to the Assam State Transport Corporation (ASTC), marking a significant step toward sustainable transportation. These 9-meter Tata Ultra electric buses, equipped with air conditioning, are tailored for safe, comfortable, and convenient intra-city travel within Guwahati. They are locally manufactured on a state-of-the-art platform, boasting cutting-edge features and powered by advanced battery systems. The buses were inaugurated by Dr. Himanta Biswa Sarma, the Hon’ble Chief Minister of Assam, on January 1, 2024.

Jitendra EV Unveils Primo Electric Scooter In India

Nashik-based electric two-wheeler manufacturer Jitendra EV has introduced its latest e-scooter, the Primo, priced at Rs 79,999 (ex-showroom). Notably, the company also unveiled a transparent model of the Primo, claiming it to be a first-of-its-kind, and depending on market feedback, it may be launched at a later date. The Primo e-scooter features a 60V, 26Ah battery pack with a claimed range of 65km. It can achieve a top speed of 52kmph, is equipped with telescopic forks, and hydraulic forks with a spring coil, and has a 7-degree gradient ability. Available in Black, Silver, Red, and White colors, the Primo offers three riding modes – economy, high-speed, and boost, along with a digital instrument console, LED lamps, USB charging, side-stand indicator, thermal propagation alert, and reverse assist. It comes with 90/90 10-inch tubeless tires, a front disc brake, and a rear drum brake setup.

Himachal Pradesh Government Mandates Shift To Electric Vehicles For Departments, Restricts Diesel And Petrol Purchases From Jan 1, 2024

Chief Minister Sukhvinder Singh Sukhu has issued a directive instructing government departments to refrain from purchasing diesel and petrol vehicles starting January 1, 2024. The move aims to bolster the adoption of electric vehicles (e-vehicles) and align with the state’s vision for a ‘Green and Clean Himachal.’ Any department seeking to acquire a diesel or petrol vehicle must obtain approval from the state cabinet. Chief Minister Sukhu emphasized the government’s substantial efforts, resulting in 185 government e-vehicles and 2,733 privately registered e-vehicles in Himachal. The Transport Department sets a precedent by transitioning its official vehicle fleet to e-vehicles, with other departments expected to follow suit gradually.

Wardwizard Secures 100 Acres In Vadodara: Aiming To Propel Electric Vehicle Hub With INR 2000 Crore Gujarat Government Deal

Vadodara-based Wardwizard Innovation and Mobility Limited have inked a significant Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) valued at INR 2000 crore with the Gujarat government. The objective is to position Vadodara as a prominent center for electric vehicles, with plans to generate more than 6000 job opportunities. The MoU involves the acquisition of 100 acres of land to establish auxiliary cluster units dedicated to battery manufacturing, control unit production, and motor manufacturing. Wardwizard’s Managing Director, Yatin Gupte, highlighted the current dependency on other countries for essential components in electric vehicle production. The establishment of these auxiliary units is expected to make the nation self-reliant in these critical areas.

Delhi’s Electric Revolution: Three-Month Extension For EV Policy Benefits

The Delhi government has opted to extend its electric vehicles (EV) policy by an additional three months, as confirmed by senior officials of the transport department and Transport Minister Kailash Gahlot. The extension, slated to continue until the end of March 2024, is pending cabinet approval. According to the current EV policy, two-wheelers qualify for a subsidy of INR 5,000 per kWh of battery capacity, three-wheelers are eligible for a fixed INR 30,000 subsidy, and four-wheelers can receive a subsidy of INR 10,000 per kWh of battery capacity, limited to the first 1,000 EVs registered under the scheme. The impending Delhi EV policy 2.0 is in its final stages of development, aiming to address stakeholder suggestions for increased incentivization, parking benefits, and improved finance options for EV buyers. The new policy’s effective date is yet to be determined.

In December 2023, Ola Electric revealed impressive achievements, registering 30,219 entries and claiming a 40% market share in the electric two-wheeler sector, based on VAHAN Portal data. The company marked its highest monthly registrations to date, experiencing a 74% year-on-year growth compared to the same month in the previous year. Furthermore, it achieved a remarkable quarter-on-quarter growth of 48%, accumulating 83,963 registrations in the quarter ending December, reflecting a 68% year-on-year growth compared to the corresponding quarter last year.
