BYD’s Electric Triumph: 2023 Ends with Over 3 Million Sales, Cementing Global NEV Superiority

In a groundbreaking achievement, BYD, the innovative electric vehicle manufacturer, has concluded the year 2023 with an unprecedented sales volume, exceeding the 3 million units annual target. This remarkable feat not only solidifies BYD’s position as the global champion in the new energy vehicle (NEV) market for the second consecutive year but also marks its entry into the prestigious global top 10 of car sales for the first time.

Maintaining its stronghold in the Chinese market, BYD retained its position as the best-selling car brand and manufacturer, showcasing its continued dominance in its home country.

The month of December alone witnessed a substantial surge, with sales reaching 341,043 units, representing a remarkable 45% increase. The cumulative annual sales figure stood at an impressive 3,024,417 vehicles, marking a significant 61.9% surge compared to the previous year.

One of the key drivers behind BYD’s success in 2023 was its notable leap in international market presence. Exports experienced a staggering growth of 334.2%, reaching 242,765 units and expanding BYD’s footprint across more than 70 countries on six continents. The company’s technological expertise, commitment to eco-friendly mobility solutions, and strong partnerships with global industry leaders contributed to its success on the international stage.

BYD’s diverse brand matrix played a pivotal role in its stellar performance. The Dynasty series, Ocean series, DENZA, FANGCHENGBAO, and YANGWANG collectively contributed to one of the most extensive portfolios in the global new energy sector. The Dynasty and Ocean series alone achieved impressive sales of 2,877,353 units, reflecting a substantial 55.3% increase from the previous year.

DENZA, with sales of 127,840 units in 2023, saw the DENZA D9 emerge as the annual MPV sales champion. Additionally, the upcoming Over-The-Air (OTA) update for DENZA N7 is poised to underscore BYD’s leading position in intelligent vehicle technology.

The recently launched YANGWANG and FANGCHENGBAO, which initiated deliveries in November, received enthusiastic responses from the market. YANGWANG U8 secured a top position in the million-level NEV segment, while BAO 5 established a robust presence in the off-road segment.

BYD’s journey from leading China’s NEV market to becoming the top global NEV seller and earning a spot among the top ten in the global automotive industry highlights the immense potential of the new energy sector.
