The state government of Goa plans to introduce electric buses in Panaji and its surrounding areas, as announced by Minister for Transport, Mauvin Godinho, during the 43rd-anniversary celebrations of the Kadamba Transport Corporation Limited (KTC).

These electric buses will be operational shortly after the conclusion of the National Games. Additionally, the state aims to add 50 diesel buses to its public transport fleet, equipped with advanced features such as real-time tracking and QR code payment systems, made possible through a partnership with GoaMiles.

Private buses will also join the ‘Mhaji Bus’ scheme, introducing new routes to enhance the public transport network and improve transportation services in Goa.

KTC Chairman Ulhas Tuenkar has requested an allocation of 200 buses to improve village connectivity in alignment with the Swayampurna Goem mission, reflecting the state’s commitment to a self-reliant and well-connected Goa.
