Tata Power and Zoomcar Collaborate to Drive Electric Vehicle Adoption across India

Tata Power EV Charging Solutions Limited (TPEVCSL), a subsidiary of Tata Power, has joined forces with Zoomcar, a renowned leader in car sharing, in a landmark Memorandum of Understanding (MoU). This collaboration is set to pave the way for widespread electric vehicle (EV) adoption while delivering a seamless and user-friendly EV charging experience on a national scale.


The MoU signing ceremony took place in Mumbai and witnessed the presence of key dignitaries including Mr. Ashish Khanna, CEO of Tata Power Renewable Energy Limited; Mr. Virendra Goyal, Head of Business Development for EV Charging at Tata Power; and Mr. Greg Moran, CEO and Co-Founder of Zoomcar.


This partnership’s primary objective is to promote Tata Power’s EZ Charge points on the Zoomcar platform, targeting both existing and potential EV owners as well as Zoomcar’s extensive customer base. By providing valuable insights into Tata Power’s expansive network of EZ Charge points nationwide, this collaboration aims to simplify the EV charging process and address the typical challenges associated with EV infrastructure use. The ultimate goal is to encourage more individuals to list their EVs on Zoomcar’s platform and attract potential customers.

Tata Power boasts a robust EV charging infrastructure, including over 50,000 home EZ chargers, 4370+ public and semi-public charging points, and 250 bus-charging stations spanning across 350 cities, including major highways. The company’s ambitious plan involves establishing 25,000 additional charging points within the next five years, thus strengthening the national EV ecosystem and promoting sustainable mobility growth. In contrast, Zoomcar operates a technology-driven platform featuring over 20,000 cars across India, Indonesia, and Egypt.

Tata Power offers end-to-end EV charging infrastructure solutions to cater to India’s growing EV ecosystem, encompassing both public and captive charging points. Their tailor-made solutions include software subscription services, a mobile app, charger hardware, power supply, and backend infrastructure. The Tata Power EZ Charge Mobile App facilitates the location of EV charging stations within its extensive network. In a recent move to enhance the EV charging experience, the company introduced an RFID card in July 2023. This card enables EV users to initiate charging simply by tapping the EZ CHARGE RFID card on the EZ charger, regardless of their location within the country.
