The Yogi government aims to enhance accessibility to religious sites within the state by initiating the operation of electric buses to prominent locations like Ayodhya, Kashi, Prayagraj, Mathura, and Chitrakoot from Lucknow.
To realize this endeavor, the Uttar Pradesh State Road Transport Corporation (UPSRTC) is incorporating 250 electric buses in its fleet in the initial phase.
Seeking a 40% grant under the ‘Fame India Scheme’ Phase 2, UPSRTC has communicated with the central government, which has provisionally endorsed this proposal. The inter-city electric buses will be deployed following the Capital Expenditure (CapEx) model.
According to Masoom Ali Sarwar, the Managing Director of UPSRTC, the fleet of electric buses will be expanded in line with the directives of the State Government and Minister of State for Transport (Independent Charge) Daya Shankar Singh.
The state administration intends to establish direct connectivity between the state capital and significant religious sites such as Ayodhya, Kashi, Prayagraj, Mathura, and Chitrakoot through these electric buses.
Masoom Ali Sarwar underscored the advantages of electric buses, emphasizing their contribution to a pollution-free, eco-friendly, and cost-effective transportation solution.
With a commitment to Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s call for greener transportation, the Yogi government is dedicated to implementing environmentally conscious measures, including the operation of electric buses that align with this vision.
