Electric vehicle manufacturer EKA Mobility announced that it has secured a contract to supply 57 electric buses to the Mira-Bhayandar Municipal Corporation (MBMC).
This order has significantly bolstered EKA’s order book, which now includes over 500 electric buses and 5,000 electric light commercial vehicles in the pipeline.
The deployment of these 57 electric buses is expected to result in a reduction of 33,704 tonnes of CO2 emissions, equivalent to planting 102,134 trees, compared to diesel buses, according to the company.
Sudhir Mehta, Founder & Chairman of EKA, expressed that this order represents a significant achievement for the company. He also expressed excitement about commencing deliveries in the coming months, further strengthening their partnership with the Mira-Bhayandar Municipal Corporation and promoting eco-friendly mass transportation in Mumbai.
Additionally, the e-buses will be equipped with intelligent charging infrastructure to optimize their operations and minimize any potential downtime, as highlighted in the company’s statement.
