Toyota Kirloskar Motor (TKM) has inaugurated TDRIVE, a structured motor vehicle training initiative in partnership with Patni Toyota in Raipur, Chhattisgarh. The launch marks the first introduction of TDRIVE in the state and is aimed at promoting safer and more responsible driving practices.
The initiative is part of Toyota’s broader road safety efforts and seeks to equip drivers with the knowledge and practical skills required for safer driving.
The inauguration was attended by Tadashi Asazuma, Deputy Managing Director, Toyota Kirloskar Motor, along with Sachin Sharma, Vice President – East Region, Sales, Service and Used Car, Toyota Kirloskar Motor, Umesh Patni, Dealer Principal, Patni Toyota, and other senior leaders.
Speaking at the launch, Tadashi Asazuma, Deputy Managing Director, Toyota Kirloskar Motor, said that the introduction of TDRIVE in Raipur represents another step in the company’s efforts to improve road safety in India. He added that the partnership with Patni Toyota will bring structured motor vehicle training to Chhattisgarh and support the development of responsible driving practices.
Umesh Patni, Dealer Principal, Patni Toyota, said the partnership combines Toyota’s training expertise with Patni Toyota’s regional presence to support road safety and responsible mobility across Chhattisgarh.
Aligned with Toyota’s “Safe Society” philosophy, TDRIVE provides structured training covering classroom-based learning, simulator sessions conducted using an actual vehicle, and supervised on-road instruction. The programme is designed to help participants transition from simulated driving conditions to real-world road environments.
The Patni Toyota facility in Raipur will serve as a regional hub for motor vehicle training, supporting Toyota’s vision of reducing road fatalities and strengthening road safety awareness across Chhattisgarh and neighbouring regions.
The launch further expands Toyota’s nationwide network of driving schools and training facilities. Through the initiative, the company aims to promote disciplined driving practices, improve road safety awareness, and encourage greater accountability among road users.
Toyota Kirloskar Motor
Toyota Kirloskar Motor is a joint venture in which Toyota Motor Corporation, Japan, holds an 89% stake, while Vikramgeet Investments and Holdings Private Limited holds the remaining 11%.
TKM has approximately 6,662 employees and operates across around 432 acres, with total installed production capacity of up to 342,000 vehicles annually.
Its first manufacturing plant in Bidadi, Karnataka, began production in December 1999 and has an installed capacity of up to 132,000 units. The plant manufactures models including the Innova HyCross, Innova Crysta, Fortuner, and Legender.
TKM’s second plant, which began production in December 2010, has an installed capacity of up to 210,000 units and manufactures the Camry Hybrid, Urban Cruiser Hyryder, and Hilux.
