Hero Electric announced that it has entered into a “preferred partner relationship” with NIDEC Japan. NIDEC Japan is one of the world’s leading electric motor manufacturers.
The partnership will see NIDEC’s electric motors deployed on Hero Electric’s range of city-speed electric bikes. Hero Electric expects to roll out the product in February 2023.
“Our partnership with NIDEC Japan was forged to help alleviate our growing supply chain issues. Having them on board and our close partnership with them is now allowing us to develop powertrain components across all our product range progressively,” Hero Electric CEO Sohinder Gill said.
Hero Electric stated that it entered into a partnership over two years ago with NIDEC Japan and began co-developing electric-bike motors for all its products. The preferred partner relationship will resolve critical supply chain issues in the EV industry.
NIDEC India spokesperson stated that the partnership with Hero Electric has resulted in a “hub motor” with advanced technology and modern design suitable for Indian conditions.
“We hope that this is the beginning of more such breakthroughs and development collaborating with Hero Electric and that this partnership shall be a landmark one in the field of electric vehicle motors in India,” the spokesperson said.
