BYD launched the e6 electric MPV in 2021 in the country to fleet operators. Now, the e6 is available for private buyers at Rs 29.15 lakh ex-showroom.
There are two versions of the BYD e6 electric MPV – GL as well as GLX. The difference is that the latter comes with an AC fast charging option. The BYD e6 MPV is India’s only all-electric model, thereby avoiding competition.
The BYD e6 is powered with a 71.7kWh lithium-iron-phosphate battery that was developed in-house and produces 93 bhp 180 Nm of peak torque. Blade Battery Technology is used by BYD, which is safer than any other battery technology on the market.
The e6 can reach a top speed of around 130 kmph and has a range of 520km per charge on the WLTC cycle. The BYD e6 comes with DC fast charging, which can charge the battery up from 30-80% in just 35 minutes and fully charge it in 90 minutes. The e6 GLX model can be charged using a 40kW AC fast charger that is mounted on a wall. It charges the car completely in just 2 hours.
The BYD e6 features LED lighting, leather seats and a 6-way adjustable seat. It also has a rotatable 10.1-inch infotainment screen with Bluetooth, WiFi and navigation. The closest competitors to the e6 are the Hyundai Kona SUV and the MG ZS EV, which are both in the same price range.
