Ahmedabad Municipal Corporation (AMC), is preparing to install 300 EV charging stations. This will be based on the PPP model. According to the 2022-23 budget proposal, the civic body has set a target of setting up 25-30 EV charging stations in the city’s first phase.

The civic body invites private companies to join them in achieving this goal. A senior AMC official confirmed that the contract documents are currently being refined and tenders will be released shortly.

The AMC will provide land to private players. Private players will pay for standard equipment and human resources. The AMC will provide land to the private player at a nominal rate which is Rs 1 per square metre monthly. There are also exemptions from building costs and town planning, which have been studied.

A senior AMC official stated that the tender document will include detailed policies on land cabling, transmission infrastructure and equipment. In the coming days, the official will decide on the additional costs per unit. Recently, Delhi announced Rs 2 per unit.
