People purchasing electric cycles in Delhi will get incentives from the government as the government is soon going to release guidelines for subsidy payment.

In April, the government said that it will provide a subsidy for the first 10,000 purchases of Rs 5,500 each in Delhi. Under the Delhi EV Policy, the first 1,000 purchasers of electric cycles will get an additional subsidy of Rs 2,000.

“The operational guidelines for payment of subsidy on purchase of e-cycles will be launched in the coming week. The guidelines will have details, including brands covered under subsidy scheme and ways to avail the incentives,” a senior government official said.

For heavy-duty cargo electric cycles and electric carts, the government will provide Rs 15,000 for each as a subsidy for the first 5,000 customers.

The corporate house or company buying such electric cycles will now get a subsidy of Rs 30,000. The Delhi government wants to promote electric cycles to reduce pollution levels.
