Tamil Nadu Government Signs MoUs With TVS Motor And Others For EV

The Tamil Nadu Government has signed 59 MoUs with companies for investing Rs 35,208 crores. The companies are TVS Motors, Nxtra by Airtel phase-2, Dalmia Bharat Green Vision, Larsen & Toubro, Adani Enterprises, Ultratech Cement, Hindustan Unilever, and others. 82 initiatives and 13 other projects were launched with a total investment of Rs 52,549. TVS Motor Company has signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) with the Government of Tamil Nadu for investment in Future Technologies and Electric Vehicle. The MOU was signed in the presence of the Honourable Chief Minister of Tamil Nadu, Thiru. M.K. Stalin and Padma Bhushan Shri. Venu Srinivasan, Chairman TVS Motor Company at the Tamil Nadu Investment Conclave 2021 in Coimbatore.

ARAI Should Work On Technology To Lower EV Charging Time – Minister

One of the biggest challenges EV manufacturers and owners face is charging time applicable to zero-emission vehicles. For reducing this concern, Union Minister of Heavy Industries, Mahendra Nath Pandey said that the Automotive Research Association of India (ARAI) should work on new technology. The central government has selected 9 expressways to set up 6000 electric vehicle charging stations in the country, 50% of which will be set up soon. In the total cost of EVs, batteries cost the highest which is 30 percent of the cost incurred. Importing the Advanced Chemical Cell (ACC) for Electric vehicle batteries is another cost factor. The ACC can be produced locally which can keep battery prices low.

Government Is Promoting EVs, But Will Not Stop ICE Registrations – Nitin Gadkari

Union Minister, Nitin Gadkari during a meeting of the Indian Chamber of Commerce (ICC) said that the government is promoting electric vehicles and the use of alternative fuels like ethanol, green hydrogen, and bio-LNG, but will also not stop ICE (Internal Combustion Engine) vehicle’s registration. The EV tractors and trucks will be introduced in India soon. EV infrastructure is being built by the National Highway Authority of India (NHAI) and around 38% national grid of the country has solar power which is an indication of India moving towards green infrastructure.

National Automobile Scrappage Policy is Win-win Policy: Nitin Gadkari

Union Minister for Road Transport and Highways Shri Nitin Gadkari has said that the National Automobile Scrappage policy is a mutual win-win policy for all the stakeholders. Inaugurating the Vehicle Scrapping and Recycling Facility set up by Maruti Suzuki Toyotsu India Private Limited (MSTI) at Noida he said the policy aims at creating an ecosystem for phasing out unfit and polluting vehicles from the Indian roads and to meet this objective state-of-the-art scrapping and recycling units are needed. The Minister said the policy will help in increasing Automobile sales, provide employment, reduce import costs, generate incremental GST revenue and help to solve the global shortage of semiconductor chips.

Ola Electric Starts Pan India Test Rides For Electric Scooters

Ola Electric has started the pan India test drives for its electric scooters. These electric scooters are S1 and S1 Pro which were launched this year. Ola Electric is now taking its initiative of EV to 1000 cities and towns across the country. This is one of the largest EV test ride events. The first round of reservations started at Rs 499 for S1 and was opened online. Ola Electric will be delivering the vehicles through its direct-to-home initiative with no partners or dealers. The deliveries are scheduled to happen this month only.

MyGate and REVOS Join Forces To Make EV Charging Infrastructure Available To RWAs

MyGate, India’s premier app for security management solutions in gated communities, has joined up with REVOS (BOLT) to develop sustainable EV charging stations in gated communities across the nation in collaboration with Resident Welfare Associations (RWAs). REVOS BOLT provides the infrastructure for the charging of EVs across the country and is compatible with any modern-day charger that comes with EVs, and as the world is moving towards more sustainable solutions to fuel vehicles, 2 million EVs are expected to be running across India, and thereby the elevated demand for charging points is inevitable.

Chartered Bike Will Deploy 200 Charging Stations And 2000 E-Bikes In Mumbai

Chartered Bike to deploy 200 charging stations and 2000 electric buses in Mumbai over the coming 3-6 months. Chartered Bike is a subsidiary of Chartered Speed which is a surface mobility firm. Chartered Bike has partnered with Adani Electricity to power the electric buses and also provide space. E-commerce delivery partners, delivery platforms, and food aggregators can access these e-bikes. Chartered Speed has over 1000 buses and the company also operates BRTS services of Ahmedabad, Indore, and Surat with 40 battery-electric buses. Chartered Bike also has bike-sharing operations with 4500 bikes in Bhopal, Surat, Kolkata, Ranchi, and Prayagraj.

Darwin Platform Group Launches 3 Electric Scooters

Darwin Platform Group of Companies (DPGC) to invest Rs 450 crore on their electric mobility space for product development. Darwin EVAT, DPGC’s electric vehicle venture launched 3 electric scooters which are D-5 is priced at Rs 68000, D-7 at Rs 73000, and D-14 at Rs 77000. The timeline of the investment is not yet disclosed. Some of the key features of the 3 electric scooters include speed control gear, regenerative braking, USB mobile charger port, and battery swapping. The e-scooters can run 70-120 km with a single charge.

GNIDA And CESL To Set Up EV Charging Stations In Greater Noida

The Greater Noida Industrial Development Authority (GNIDA) and CESL have signed a deal for establishing charging stations for electric vehicles in Greater Noida. The company will set up 100 charging stations in the city. The first charging station will be set up in 2 weeks. The deal was signed in the presence of Naveen Kumar Singh (In charge of commerce cell and OSD), Deep Chandra (GNIDA Additional CEO), and other CESL officers. GNIDA said that under the National Electric Mobility Scheme, it is trying to encourage the use of electric vehicles in the country and Greater Noida is part of that campaign. As per Mahua Acharya, CESL MD and CEO, One of the major cities for industrial work in Greater Noida, as the city has good opportunities and promotes electric vehicles.

CESL Inks Pact With IIT Bombay To Establish Electric Vehicle Charging Infrastructure

Convergence Energy Services Limited (CESL), a wholly-owned subsidiary of Energy Efficiency Services Limited (EESL), has signed a Letter of Association (LoA) with the Indian Institute of Technology Bombay (IITB) to implement Electric Vehicle (EV) Charging Infrastructure across the country. The LoA was signed today by Ms. Mahua Acharya, MD and CEO, CESL, and Prof. A.M. Pradeep, Associate Dean of Research & Development, Indian Institute of Technology Bombay. Under this association, both parties will collaborate to work on technological advancements in the electric vehicle charging domain by developing flagship products, standardization of technical specifications, solutions for meeting EV charging capabilities, and customized solutions for the Indian EV charging ecosystem.

Ashok Leyland To Focus On Green Mobility Future

Ashok Leyland to focus on a green mobility future with various initiatives to make its presence more prominent in alternate vehicle fuel like CNG and LNG. Hosur facility of the company will especially focus on alternative fuels. Powertrains are based on IC engines which are comprised of gasoline and diesel. But for the coming decade, electric battery powertrain would be focused and Ashok Leyland is focusing on the same by dedicating teams for developing it. There is a push towards CNG and LNG which everyone can see and according to CTO of Ashok Leyland N Saravanan, fossil fuels will soon be replaced by hydrogen and methanol.

Greaves Electric Mobility Opens New Facility In Tamil Nadu

Greaves Electric Mobility opens its biggest production facility in Ranipet, Tamil Nadu. The facility was inaugurated by the Chief Minister of Tamil Nadu, MK Stalin with Thangam Thenarasu, Industries Minister of state. Greaves is the E-Mobility arm of Greaves Cotton Limited and one of the market leaders in the E-2W and E-3W segments. The plant is part of the Rs 700-crore investment plan of the company where electric vehicles are a key focus. The facility is spread across 35 acres and Rs 700 crores were invested for its construction.
