Honda Cars India has launched the upgraded Honda City sedan and introduced the all-new Honda ZR-V e:HEV hybrid SUV in India, marking a major step in the company’s expansion strategy for the premium car market.

Announced in New Delhi on May 22, the launch reflects Honda’s focus on sporty design, hybrid technology and premium mobility solutions. The company described the two models as “Two Sporty Icons” aimed at customers seeking advanced technology, refined performance and modern styling.

The new Honda City arrives with refreshed exterior styling, enhanced interiors and upgraded technology. The sedan features a redesigned front fascia with Blade Eye Signature LED lighting, a sportier bumper, new alloy wheels and dual-tone interiors. It also gets a larger 10.1-inch touchscreen, ventilated front seats, 360-degree camera and Honda SENSING ADAS features including collision mitigation braking, lane keep assist and adaptive cruise control.

Honda will offer the City in both petrol and strong hybrid variants. The 1.5-litre petrol engine produces 121 PS, while the e:HEV hybrid system delivers 126 PS and a claimed fuel efficiency of 27.26 km/l. Prices for the new City start at ₹11.99 lakh and go up to ₹20.99 lakh (ex-showroom, Delhi).

The spotlight, however, was on the India debut of the Honda ZR-V e:HEV, a premium hybrid SUV being imported from Japan as a Completely Built Unit (CBU). Positioned as Honda’s flagship SUV in India, the ZR-V combines sporty styling with a 2.0-litre hybrid powertrain producing 184 PS and 315 Nm of torque. Honda claims a fuel efficiency of 22.79 km/l.

The SUV features a bold exterior design, 18-inch alloy wheels, Bose 12-speaker audio system, panoramic digital displays and a premium black-themed cabin. Safety equipment includes eight airbags, 360-degree camera, Honda SENSING ADAS suite and multiple driver-assist technologies.

Honda Cars India President and CEO Takashi Nakajima said the launch marks the beginning of a “new phase of accelerated growth” for the company in India. He revealed that Honda plans six strategic launches this year to strengthen its market position.

Bookings for the ZR-V have opened across India, with deliveries scheduled to begin in July 2026.
