Honda Cars India Ltd. (HCIL) has reported a steady start to the new financial year, posting total sales of 4,938 units in April 2026. This includes domestic sales of 4,069 units and exports of 869 units, reflecting a positive growth trend in the company’s performance.

The automaker recorded a notable 21% increase in domestic sales compared to April 2025, when it sold 3,360 units locally. Overall sales last year stood at 4,871 units, with exports contributing a significantly higher 1,511 units than this year’s figures.

Commenting on the performance, Kunal Behl, Vice President of Marketing and Sales at HCIL, highlighted the strong demand for key models such as the Amaze, City, and Elevate. He stated that the company has entered the new fiscal year with encouraging momentum and expressed confidence in maintaining this upward trajectory in the months ahead.

The growth in domestic sales suggests improving consumer demand and a strengthening position for Honda in India’s competitive passenger vehicle market. However, the decline in export numbers compared to the previous year indicates a shift in focus or varying global demand conditions.

Industry analysts note that sustained demand for popular sedan and SUV models has contributed to HCIL’s performance, even as the broader automotive sector continues to navigate challenges such as fluctuating export markets and evolving consumer preferences.

With a positive start to FY27, Honda Cars India appears optimistic about leveraging its current momentum to achieve consistent growth, particularly in the domestic segment.
