Mahindra & Mahindra Ltd. has kicked off the financial year on a strong note, reporting total auto sales of 94,627 vehicles in April 2026, marking a 14% year-on-year growth, including exports.
The company’s performance was led by continued demand in the SUV segment, where domestic sales reached 56,331 units, an increase of 8% compared with the same month last year. Total utility vehicle sales, including exports, stood at 57,833 units.
Mahindra’s commercial vehicle business also contributed positively, with domestic sales of 23,427 units across categories. In the light commercial vehicle segment under 2 tonnes, sales rose 13% to 2,984 units, while the 2-tonne to 3.5-tonne category grew 7% to 20,443 units.
A standout performer for the month was the three-wheeler segment, which recorded 9,899 units sold, a sharp 81% increase from April 2025.
Exports also showed robust momentum, climbing 47% year-on-year to 4,970 units, reflecting growing overseas demand for Mahindra vehicles.
Nalinikanth Gollagunta said the company has begun FY27 on a positive trajectory, supported by strong SUV demand and broad-based volume growth.
“The year has begun on a positive note in April by achieving SUV sales of 56,331 units and total vehicle sales of 94,627 units, a 14% growth over the same month last year,” he said.
Mahindra has continued to strengthen its position in India’s highly competitive utility vehicle market, where models such as the Mahindra XUV700, Mahindra Scorpio-N and Mahindra Thar have remained popular among buyers.
The strong April performance is expected to reinforce investor confidence as Mahindra enters FY27 with momentum across domestic and international markets. Industry analysts will now watch whether sustained SUV demand, export growth, and recovery in commercial segments can drive another year of record sales for the company.
