SAIC Motor made a powerful statement at Auto China 2026, unveiling a comprehensive lineup of intelligent electric vehicles and next-generation mobility technologies under the theme “More than Auto.”
The company presented over 100 vehicles across more than 10 brands, including MG, Roewe, IM Motors, Maxus, and joint venture marques such as Volkswagen, Audi, Buick, and Cadillac. The showcase featured more than 10 global debuts, highlighting SAIC’s push into the intelligent electric vehicle (EV) segment.
Among the standout reveals was the Roewe Jiayue 07 concept, described as the world’s first “AI-native vehicle,” designed with artificial intelligence integrated at its core rather than as an add-on feature. The IM LS8 flagship SUV also drew attention with advanced steer-by-wire technology and intelligent four-wheel steering, offering enhanced maneuverability despite its large size.
The updated MG4 electric hatchback was introduced with upgraded smart cockpit features and enhanced safety systems, aiming to make intelligent driving assistance more accessible in the mass market.
SAIC also highlighted its collaboration with technology partners such as Huawei, integrating advanced systems like Qiankun intelligent driving and HarmonySpace across new models like the SHANGJIE Z7 and Z7T. These vehicles combine high-performance hardware with cutting-edge digital ecosystems to deliver a more connected driving experience.
Joint venture brands played a key role in the exhibition, reflecting a shift toward “technology co-creation.” Models such as the SAIC Volkswagen ID ERA 9X and SAIC Audi E7X showcased a blend of global automotive engineering with China’s rapidly evolving digital capabilities. The Audi E7X is expected to support advanced autonomous driving features, including future Level 3 capabilities.
In the commercial vehicle segment, SAIC Maxus introduced an industry-first range-extended electric van designed to reduce operating costs while delivering long driving range. The company also launched a global alliance aimed at standardizing commercial vehicle customization and expanding Chinese automotive innovation worldwide.
The event underscores SAIC Motor’s broader strategy of accelerating innovation in intelligent mobility while strengthening both its independent brands and joint ventures. With its global customer base nearing 100 million, the company is positioning itself at the forefront of the transition to smart, electric, and personalized transportation solutions.
Industry analysts view SAIC’s extensive showcase as a clear signal of China’s growing influence in shaping the future of the global automotive industry.
