Toyota Motor Corporation has expanded its kei commercial vehicle lineup with the launch of a fully electric version of the Pixis Van, marking a significant step in its push toward carbon neutrality and sustainable logistics solutions in Japan.

Performance and range

Developed jointly by Suzuki, Daihatsu, and Toyota, the Pixis Van BEV uses Toyota’s electrification technology combined with Suzuki and Daihatsu’s expertise in kei vehicles. The vehicle delivers a maximum output of 47 kW and peak torque of 126 N·m, providing strong initial acceleration and stable handling even under load.

The van is powered by a 36.6 kWh lithium-ion battery placed beneath the floor, lowering the center of gravity and improving stability. It offers a cruising range of 257 km (WLTC mode)—the longest among kei commercial van BEVs as of February 2026.

Inside, the vehicle features automatic air conditioning, an easy-to-read multi-information display, USB charging ports, and energy-efficient seat heaters.

Safety and options

The van comes equipped with Daihatsu’s Smart Assist active safety system, which helps detect vehicles and pedestrians during turns at intersections.

Toyota is offering two optional business-focused packages:

  • Labor-Saving Pack (¥77,000): keyless entry, power mirrors, sliding door assist, and more

The vehicle will be produced at Daihatsu Motor Kyushu’s Oita (Nakatsu) Plant.

Strategic significance

Toyota said the launch supports its “Beyond Zero” vision, which aims not only to eliminate carbon emissions but also to create new social and economic value through clean mobility solutions.

With kei commercial vehicles accounting for about 60% of Japan’s commercial fleet, the Pixis Van BEV is expected to play a key role in cleaner last-mile delivery and urban logistics.
