India’s Electric Two-Wheeler Sales Surge 38% In October 2025 On Festive Season Demand

India’s electric two-wheeler market continued its steady growth in October 2025, with total sales reaching 1,44,171 units as per the Vahan Portal. This marked a strong 38.4 percent increase compared to September, showing that the sector is growing rapidly despite external challenges. One of the key reasons for this sudden spike in sales during the month was the festive season in India, which includes major celebrations like Dussehra and Diwali. These festivals traditionally see higher vehicle purchases, and this year, electric two-wheelers were a popular choice among consumers.

The growth of the market is being supported by several positive factors. Rising fuel prices are encouraging buyers to consider more economical electric options. The wider availability of EV models across different price ranges is also helping consumers find suitable choices. Additionally, strong government backing through incentives, subsidies, and supportive policies continues to push the market toward a cleaner and carbon-free future.

Among the leading manufacturers, Bajaj Auto remained at the top in October, selling 31,317 electric two-wheelers and capturing a 21.72 percent market share. The company’s consistent focus on quality, reliable customer service, and timely deliveries has helped it maintain its leadership position. TVS Motor followed closely with 29,566 units sold, holding a 20.51 percent share. Ather Energy came in third with 28,205 units and a 19.56 percent share. Ola Electric ranked fourth with 16,037 units, translating to 11.12 percent of the market, while Hero MotoCorp sold 15,975 units and secured an 11.08 percent share. Together, these five leading manufacturers accounted for 1,21,100 units, nearly 84 percent of the total sales in October, showing their strong control over the market.

Other players also contributed significantly to the market’s overall performance. Greaves Electric Mobility sold 7,629 units, while BGauss Auto delivered 2,935 units, focusing on offering affordable electric scooters for everyday commuters. Companies such as Pur Energy, River Mobility, and Revolt Intellicorp continued to show stable sales volumes. Meanwhile, Kinetic Green Energy & Power Solutions, E-Sprinto Green Energy, and SimpleEnergy are developing new models with improved features and competitive pricing to attract more buyers. These companies are gradually building trust among consumers and expanding their market presence.

While the domestic market remains resilient, certain international developments present some challenges. For example, recent U.S. tariffs on Indian imports could lead to higher costs for EV parts, including batteries and electronic components. However, India’s progress in localizing EV manufacturing has helped reduce dependency on imports and manage production costs effectively. The Goods and Services Tax (GST) Council has also maintained a low 5 percent tax rate on electric vehicles, compared to the standard 18 percent for conventional vehicles, keeping EVs affordable for Indian consumers.

The overall outlook for India’s electric two-wheeler industry remains very promising. With government initiatives such as the FAME scheme, state-level subsidies, reduced GST, and domestic battery production, the sector is gaining strength. Growing consumer interest, new investments, and a steady rise in product innovation are driving long-term growth. As more customers choose sustainable transport solutions and manufacturers continue to enhance their offerings, the electric two-wheeler market is set to play a vital role in India’s transition toward cleaner, greener, and more sustainable mobility.
