Mahindra Clocks Record SUV Sales in FY25, Sees 23% Growth in March Auto Sales

Mahindra & Mahindra Ltd. (M&M Ltd.), one of India’s leading automotive manufacturers, wrapped up FY2024-25 on a high note, registering an impressive 23% growth in overall auto sales for March 2025, with 83,894 units sold, including exports.

In the Utility Vehicles (UV) segment, Mahindra clocked 48,048 domestic sales and a total of 50,835 units including exports, registering an 18% year-on-year growth. The company’s Commercial Vehicle (CV) division also saw strong domestic performance with 23,951 units sold in March.

The financial year concluded with Mahindra delivering an all-time high of 5,51,487 SUVs in the domestic market, marking a robust 20% year-on-year growth, and achieving the highest-ever Vahan registrations.

Key Milestones for FY2024-25:

Ranked as India’s No.1 SUV brand by volume

Became the No.2 Passenger Vehicle manufacturer by revenue

Crossed 50% market share in the LCV < 3.5T segment

Achieved 41% YoY growth in international operations

Became the only Indian auto company with DJSI Index World Leader status

Electric Surge & Export Boost
The company initiated deliveries of its much-anticipated Electric Origin SUV, witnessing strong initial demand. Exports soared by a staggering 163% in March 2025, with 4,143 vehicles shipped, bringing the annual export tally to 34,709 units, up 41% YoY.

Veejay Nakra, President of the Automotive Division, M&M Ltd., said:

“March was a great close to the year, with over 48,000 SUVs sold and overall volumes up by 23%. The electric Origin SUV rollout is off to a promising start. We’ve crossed the milestone of 5 lakh domestic SUV sales for the first time, reflecting customer trust and demand momentum.”

Segment Highlights – March 2025:

LCV 2T–3.5T: 18,958 units, 23% growth

3-Wheelers: 7,752 units, 47% growth

LCV 2T & MHCV: Saw marginal dips of 12% and 4%, respectively

As Mahindra shifts gears with a stronger electric portfolio and export base, its FY25 performance underscores its evolving dominance in India’s automotive landscape—both in conventional and electric mobility.
