LeafyBus, a tech-enabled electric vehicle (EV) bus company based in New Delhi, has unveiled plans to deploy 50 electric buses over the next year. The new fleet will operate on various routes across Delhi, Uttar Pradesh, and Punjab, with future expansion set for Eastern and Southern India.
In a strategic move to support this expansion, LeafyBus has partnered with JBM Electric Vehicles (P) Ltd. The collaboration will see LeafyBus acquire a total of 200 electric buses from JBM, with 50 buses to be introduced within the first 12 months and the remaining 150 to follow in the subsequent year. This initiative is aimed at addressing the increasing demand for improved transportation solutions across the country.
The new electric buses are designed with a range of features to enhance passenger safety and comfort. They include CCTV surveillance, live tracking, and a “Bus Buddy” service to assist customers onboard. The buses also adhere to stringent safety standards with Driver Monitoring Systems (DMS) and Advanced Driver Assistance Systems (ADAS), while maintaining high interior cleanliness standards for a comfortable journey.
LeafyBus is also focused on providing a seamless travel experience by incorporating high-speed chargers inspired by international best practices and equipping the buses with larger batteries for long-range travel. With maintenance support across North India, the company aims to deliver a premium experience for passengers.
Rohan Dewan, CEO and Founder of LeafyBus, commented, “Our collaboration with JBM EV is a significant step towards transforming transportation in India. With 50 new electric buses joining our fleet in the next 12 months, LeafyBus is committed to expanding electric mobility options.”
Animesh Sharma, CIO and Co-Founder, added, “Leveraging our extensive experience in running electric and diesel buses on inter-city routes, we are collaborating with leading manufacturers to develop innovative tech solutions that enhance the efficiency and experience of our electric bus operations.
